Privacy Policy
Last Updated: January 2025
At quantaeloon, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our scenario modeling platform.
We operate under Australian privacy laws, including the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Your data belongs to you, and we're transparent about what we do with it.
Information We Collect
When you use our financial scenario modeling tools, we gather certain information to provide you with accurate projections and personalized insights. Here's what we collect and why:
Account Information
When you create an account, we ask for basic details like your name, email address, and contact information. This lets us identify you, communicate updates, and keep your scenarios secure.
Financial Data You Input
Our platform works because you share financial scenarios with us. This might include income projections, expense estimates, investment assumptions, or business forecasts. We store this data securely so you can access and modify your scenarios anytime.
Usage Information
We track how you interact with our platform—which features you use, how often you log in, and what types of scenarios you create most frequently. This helps us understand what's working and what needs improvement.
We don't sell your personal information to third parties. Ever. Your financial scenarios and projections remain private and are used solely to provide you with our services.
How We Use Your Information
Every piece of data we collect serves a specific purpose. We're not interested in hoarding information—we want to make quantaeloon work better for you.
- Provide and maintain our scenario modeling services, including saving your projections and calculations
- Send you updates about your account, important changes to our platform, or security notifications
- Improve our algorithms and features based on how people actually use the platform
- Respond to your support requests and help troubleshoot issues
- Ensure platform security and prevent fraudulent activity
- Comply with legal obligations under Australian financial and privacy regulations
If we want to use your data for anything beyond these purposes, we'll ask for your explicit permission first.
Data Storage and Security
Your financial scenarios contain sensitive information, and we treat them accordingly. All data is encrypted both in transit and at rest using industry-standard protocols.
Where We Store Your Data
We primarily use Australian-based servers to ensure your data remains within the country's privacy jurisdiction. Some backup systems may be located in secure facilities overseas, but always in countries with strong data protection laws comparable to Australia's standards.
Security Measures
- End-to-end encryption for all data transmission
- Regular security audits and penetration testing
- Multi-factor authentication options for your account
- Strict access controls limiting who can view your information
- Automated backup systems to prevent data loss
Despite our precautions, no system is completely invulnerable. If we ever experience a data breach affecting your information, we'll notify you promptly and explain what happened.
Your Rights Under Australian Law
The Privacy Act gives you substantial control over your personal information. You're not just handing over your data and hoping for the best—you have enforceable rights.
Access Your Information
You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you. We'll provide this within 30 days, in a commonly used electronic format. There's no charge for this unless your request is particularly complex or repetitive.
Correct Inaccurate Data
If any information we hold is incorrect or outdated, you can ask us to fix it. Most account details can be updated directly through your profile settings.
Delete Your Account
You can delete your account at any time. This removes all your personal information and scenario data from our active systems. Some records may persist in backup systems for up to 90 days before being permanently erased.
Object to Processing
If you believe we're using your data inappropriately, you can object. We'll review your concern and either stop the processing or explain why we believe it's necessary and lawful.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@quantaeloon.com. We'll respond within 30 days and work with you to address your request.
Data Retention
We keep your information only as long as necessary to provide our services or comply with legal requirements.
| Data Type | Retention Period |
|---|---|
| Active account information | Duration of account plus 90 days |
| Financial scenarios and projections | Duration of account plus 90 days |
| Usage logs and analytics | 24 months |
| Support correspondence | 3 years |
| Financial transaction records | 7 years (tax compliance) |
After these periods, data is permanently deleted from our systems. Some aggregated, anonymized statistics may be retained indefinitely for research purposes, but these cannot be traced back to individual users.
Sharing Your Information
We share your data only when absolutely necessary and never for marketing purposes.
Service Providers
We work with carefully vetted third parties who help us run quantaeloon—hosting providers, payment processors, and analytics tools. These partners are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the specific services they provide us.
Legal Requirements
If required by Australian law or a valid court order, we may disclose your information to authorities. We'll notify you about such requests unless legally prohibited from doing so.
Business Transfers
If quantaeloon is acquired or merges with another company, your information may transfer to the new entity. We'll notify you before this happens and explain any changes to how your data is handled.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. Full stop.
Cookies and Tracking
Like most websites, we use cookies to make quantaeloon function properly and understand how people use our platform.
Essential Cookies
These keep you logged in and remember your preferences. Without them, the platform wouldn't work. You can't disable these and still use quantaeloon effectively.
Analytics Cookies
These help us understand which features get used most and where people encounter problems. The data is aggregated and doesn't identify you personally. You can opt out of these through your account settings.
We don't use advertising cookies or allow third-party advertising networks to track you on our platform.
International Data Transfers
While we primarily store data in Australia, some processing may occur overseas—particularly for backup storage and certain cloud services.
When we transfer data internationally, we ensure the receiving country has adequate privacy protections or implement additional safeguards like standard contractual clauses approved by the Australian Information Commissioner.
You have the right to know where your data is being processed. Contact us if you want specific details about our current data storage locations.
Children's Privacy
quantaeloon is designed for adults managing financial decisions. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you're a parent and believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us immediately and we'll delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We review and update this privacy policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you by email and display a prominent notice on the platform.
The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page shows when the most recent changes took effect. Continuing to use quantaeloon after updates means you accept the revised policy.
Complaints and Disputes
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal information, we want to hear about it. Contact our privacy team first, and we'll work to resolve your concern.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). They're the independent authority overseeing privacy law compliance in Australia.
You can reach the OAIC at 1300 363 992 or through their website at oaic.gov.au.
